This axe is patterned after axes that were traded to the native Americans in the northeast of what is now the United States in the eighteenth century.
The ornament is of my own devising and depicts the head of an eagle on both sides of the axe.

This axe is of a Danish broad axe style with a chased Viking design over the eye on both sides. The bit of this axe is 4-1/4 in. from horn to horn and is 5-1/4 in. from pol to bit. the axe is 1-1/4 in. wide at the pol and weighs 22.5 oz. The axe head is hand forged from mild steel with a high carbon bit forge welded in. The handle is made of ash with a linseed oil bees wax finish and is 39 in. long. (#296)
