Hudson Bay Axe

This axe is patterned after the Hudson Bay axe of the nineteenth century.

The axe body is hand forged of mild steel with a high carbon bit forge welded in.  The surface of the the axe has been left as forged leaving some hammer marks.


The handle is of hickory with a linseed oil and beeswax finish that has been heated to melt the finish into the wood and darken the color.  The handle is 15” ling from the base of the axe head to the end.  The axe head is 5-1/4″ wide, the blade is 3-1/4″ and the back of the axe is 1-1/2″ deep.
